Kitchen Influence for Project QUILTING 13.3

Project QUILTING 13.3 Challenge is titled Kitchen Influence. The kitchen is truly the heart of the home and where everyone hangs out from guests to family to the pet hoping for a dropped treat. It’s also the location where foods are created with the purpose of gifting or donating. From cookies for the school bake sale to ‘church potatoes’ for a funeral luncheon to the cookies and preserves gifted during the holidays.

Many jars of homemade raspberry sauce (it was supposed to be raspberry jam but it never ‘set up’) were created over the holidays for gift giving. A quilted gift basket would be ideal to present these sweet treats in.

I located Island Batik fabrics from previous ByAnnie.com and Patterns By Annie project that would work perfectly. A. Created a pattern for a tiny basket. B. Quilted batik layers with Soft and Stable for second basket. C. Marked pattern on wrong side of quilted unit. D. Stitched bias binding on curved edge with BERNINA USA 770. E. Tiny Basket is the perfect size to gift homemade raspberry sauce while taller one is ready for the Easter Bunny. It would also be great for gifting cookies but I didn't have any for a photo.

Additional photos of the small basket in the top row and the taller basket in the bottom row. All raw edges are finished in these quick quilted baskets. They go together so quickly, the Easter Bunny might use this pattern for baskets this year.

I wasn’t sure if an Easter Basket really fit with the title, Kitchen Influence so I whipped up a snack mat to add a splash of color to any kitchen A. Paper Pieced Hexies in colorful batiks. B. It can also be used as a mouse pad. C. Tea and a snack. D. Quilting design shown on back of mat. E. Ready for use as a snack mat, potholder or table protector.

Some additional views of the snack mat which finished at 10” X 10”.
